Phytosanitary Control and Monitoring Division

Proceeding from Georgian soil and climate conditions and various branches of agriculture, there are spread thousands of harmful organisms in the country, which dominate on various agricultural cultures.

Division supervises and controls spreading of harmful organisms, including especially hazardous and those subject to quarantine, carries out phytosanitary monitoring and forecasts potential spreading of those. Division receives information about harmful organisms spreading from regions of the country according to period of time, processes them and makes decisions on prevention and eradication measures and methods. Division renders consultations and methodical assistance to farmers on harmful organisms diagnostics, economical damage and eradication measures as well as on efficient pesticides application and on other various issues. Division carries out expertise of plants protection works provided for by program measures; it determines biological and economical effect to be achieved by measures taking.

Division carries out monitoring and supervision of cargoes and transport means subject to quarantine according to the valid legislation; supervises and controls phytosanitary certificates issue.
