Plants Protection and Agrochemicals Supervision Division
One of important warranties of the agriculture development, food products safety is efficient and safe application of plants protection and agricultural chemicals; it is of especially great importance in Georgia where versatile soil and climate conditions and diversity of agricultural cultures causes various agricultural chemicals and pesticides. Plants Protection and Agrochemicals Supervision Division organizes agricultural chemicals and pesticides registration trials carrying out and registration of those, issues registration certificates and draws up authorized agricultural chemicals and pesticides catalog. Division prepares and disseminates agricultural chemicals and pesticides efficient and safe recommendations, instructions, methodical directives. Division supervises observing of agricultural chemicals and pesticides import, transportation, storage, sale and application regulations on the whole territory of the country. Division conducts farmers’ regular trainings and provides them with new means, advanced technologies, informs them about international requirements and regulations. Division regularly updates and publishes agricultural chemicals and pesticides exporters’ list and draws up registry to provide farmers with information of reliable importers. Division controls agricultural chemicals and pesticides quality. Division has extensive data bank of Georgian soils and fecundity , pastures structures, demand for agricultural chemicals, plants harmful organisms dissemination according to regions of the country.
Division regularly receives information from various countries about manufacturers of new agricultural chemicals and pesticides, efficiency, application area, ecological safety of those, etc. Division has close business relations with scientific research institutes of the country, cooperates with experts, non-governmental organizations, chemical products importers. Division participates in preparation of various international projects and programs, bills and normative acts.
